A group of naturalists conquer the Serra da Mocidade mountains, isolated in the Amazon jungle, for the first time. They are on the trail of unknown animal and plant species. This is because the Amazon rainforest is rich in endemic species that can only be found here. The remoteness of the Serra da Mociade suggests that species can be found here that are specially adapted to this habitat and exist nowhere else on earth. Many dangers await the explorers on this expedition - including forest fires, storms and poisonous animals. But in the end, the rich yield rewards all the effort: the team succeeds in documenting 1,500 different species. Among them are 90 species that have never been recorded in Brazil before and at least 95 species that have probably never been described before.
