"Boom boom Boris" When he became a shooting star in the world of tennis, Boris Becker was a wunderkind. Everybody loved him. But what price does it have when a teenager shoots to stardom from nowhere? In April of 2022, the jury in a London court found him guilty of unlawfully hiding parts of his wealth in the face of bankruptcy. This film was published 5 years before that when first signs of financial trouble where already starting to show. The film gets as close to the beleaguered star as he allows. He agrees to being portrayed as a private citizen, husband and father, proud London resident and business man. It also shows his rocky time as a coach for Novak Djokovic. Directors Hanns-Bruno Kammertöns and Michael Wech accompany Boris Becker for a whole year. They were also allowed to use hitherto unpublished, private photographs and video recordings of the exceptional athlete from a time when the "boy from Leimen" is loved and celebrated all over the world as a living legend. The film reveals the unease that Becker feels to this day that so many people, particularly from his home town and country, thought that he was "their Boris".
