A young woman is working on an animated film. She carefully prepares her figures, cuts them out of paper and cardboard, colours the individual parts, finally puts them together - and thus creates a wonderful character: Manolo! Curious and inquisitive, the bright, friendly cartoon boy discovers the world of "his" director and becomes the hero in a fantasised adventure. A magical experience! A mixture of live action and various animation techniques, this short film introduces the genesis of animated film, with fiction and cinematic reality subtly intertwining: On the one hand, "Manolo" is an equally amazing and insightful excursion into the making of an (animated) film; on the other hand, it wonderfully tells of the loving friendship between a paper figure and its creator.
