Egypt in 2011, just before the revolution: the body of the popular singer Lalela is found in a suite of the luxury hotel Nile Hilton. At first, everything points to a relational crime. But soon the investigating police officer Noredin comes across evidence that members of Egypt's political and economic elite are involved in the murder. Then, however, the case is suddenly filed away as a suicide by a high ranking person. Nevertheless, Noredin continues his investigation and stumbles into a wasp's nest of corruption, intrigue and greed, while in Cairo people take to the streets and the Mubarak regime is on the verge of collapse.
